Mite Damage

Just a quick blog article here. Wiens Lawn and Tree Care Has been very busy the last few weeks. This is the hardest time of year for lawn care. It is all about trying to fix the problems that are showing up now as the lawns begin to green up and come out of dormancy. I am seeing a lot of mite damage here in Parker/Denver CO. This is from the warm weather we had especially in Feb. and March when the mites are most active. They were having a hay day this year! If you can pull out the garden hose in those long dry warm periods through the Winter and really soak the lawn good for an hour once a month it will drown out the mites and help prevent Winter kill. Other wise you are looking at an aeration over seeding to repair the damage. We had a big heavy wet Spring snow a few weeks ago here in Denver/Parker CO. that killed the mites. I am not finding any mites active now, just seeing the damage they have already done. Remember when laying new sod; green side up! Kent Wiens owner of Wiens Lawn and Tree Care
