Well, we had our first snow of the season here in the Denver CO. metro area. It will be good for the lawns but unfortunately will not soak down far enough to benefit the trees, and it has been so dry! We are behind on our rain and snowfall totals and the trees desparately need water. It takes at least a two foot heavy wet snow that slowly melts and soaks down into the soil to benefit the trees. And we just don't get those very often here. We get mostly four or five inch snows that are dry and powdery and just don't hold much moisture. It is a semi-arid climate. Thus, we have to irrigate our lawns , trees and shrubs to keep them alive and healthy. That is also why we do Deep Root Winter Watering here at Wiens Lawncare, to help your trees and shrubs through the long dry periods in winter while your lawn sprinklers and soaker hoses are off.  It is also important to fertilize your trees and shrubs. We Deep Root Fertilize trees and shrubs. They need food and water just like your lawn does and just like we humans do. All living beings do, we can do without food for a period of time but not water. Water sustains life.
